"For every great movement around the world, there's a moment where you can look back and say, 'That's when things really started to change’, For the movement to end gun violence in America, that moment is here."

What Is Keeping Us From Finding Common Ground?

Pro vs. Anti Gun Control

In wake of highly publicized cases of gun violence citizens sparked a revolution, known as the pro gun control movement. Pro gun control supporters demand a ban of assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and a drastic change in the process of legally obtaining firearms. Marches and walk outs are organized all across the country in effort to ensure government heads take responsibility for their negligence.

The anti gun control movement shares a very different perspective. According to the anti gun control perspective, the root of the gun violence issue isn’t found in any insufficient gun legislation, the problem lies in the community of the mentally unstable and our inability to adequately deal with their personality types. A controversial solution supported by the anti gun control movement is the motion to increase the population of legal gun owning citizens- specifically arming teachers who seem to be on the front lines of the relentless killing sprees.

“We are children. You guys are the adults. Work together, come over your politics, and get something done.”

Fred Guttengerg

-Father of School Shooting Victim

"I am enraged. I want to hear our elected officials, I want them to look me in the eye and acknowledge the role that guns played in the hunting of my daughter."

Emma Gonzalez

-Teenage Activist

“When we've had our say with the government — and maybe the adults have gotten used to saying 'it is what it is,' but if us students have learned anything, it's that if you don't study, you will fail. And in this case if you actively do nothing, people continually end up dead, so it's time to start doing something.”

TIME IS UP

Nearly 13,000 people die at the hand of gun violence in America every year. Its prevalence in society is a terrifying yet inescapable truth that our generation is now responsible for solving. Solution will not come easy, but without action, we are sure to lose more innocent to the hand of deadly weapons.
