SCHOOL SHOOTINGS
Let’s get specific, let’s talk about something that is directly affecting you,--the future of America, school shootings. School shootings are a huge epidemic in the United States, it is real, and it is affecting many students and communities around the nation. The reality is, school shootings have become a trend in our society today. People are so desensitized to a topic that should be horrifying, not normal.
IMAGINE
"A strength-based classroom is a place where students with all sorts of labels come together as equals to form a new type of learning environment."
THAT IS WHAT SCHOOLS SHOULD BE.
"Our thoughts and prayers are not enough. It does not capture the heartache and grief and anger that we should feel. And it does nothing to prevent this carnage from being inflicted someplace else in America -- next week, or a couple of months from now.”
“This whole country is going nuts, and the NRA is in our way. They’re responsible for this whole production. They hold the strings, they control the puppet. And they threaten to take donor bucks. So they know the government won’t do nothing and no one’s budging. Gun owners clutching their loaded weapons. They love their guns more than our children.”
"19th school shooting of a year less than two months long. This one on my home town in my home state. How many kids need to die? How many more f**** times do we need to hear “now’s not the time to discuss this?” Dozens more? Hundreds more? Thousands? Will it ever matter?"
"It is devastating that time and time again our safety and lives are being compromised in places that are supposed to be dedicated to our growth."
"What are you supposed to tell your little sister when she asks "what do I do if a shooter comes in? Do I hide in the classroom or run for my life?" THIS SHOULD NOT BE A CHILD'S CONCERN OR WORRY. No one should have to live in fear. Something MUST be done."
"We NEED change. We can not continue to let this list grow. We can not grow accustom to waking up to this kind of terrorism in our country. We can not make this normal. How are we going to end gun violence?"
